Most of the AI agent stories you read about today are either consumer demos or enterprise-engineering moonshots. Neither tells you what to do on Monday. So here are nine production workflows our customers are running this quarter — boring, valuable and shippable in 90 days.
1. Inbound lead first-response
An agent watches every lead form, web chat and inbound email. Within 90 seconds, it replies in your brand voice, asks the two qualifying questions you defined, and books a meeting on the right rep's calendar if the answers fit.
2. AR collection nudges
An agent reads every open invoice, segments customers by historical payment behaviour, and sends collection messages on the schedule that maximises recovery without burning the relationship. Outliers get escalated to a human.
3. Stockout prevention
An agent watches sell-through across every outlet and online channel. When a SKU is on track to stock out within its replenishment lead time, it generates a transfer or a purchase order draft for review.
4. Returns triage
An agent reads every return request, classifies the reason from the customer's message, decides if it needs a refund, a replacement, or a hold for inspection, and updates inventory in the right state.
5. GST and e-invoice anomaly detection
An agent watches every invoice as it is generated. It flags missing HSN codes, wrong GST rates, broken e-invoice JSON and place-of-supply mismatches before the document goes out the door.
6. Campaign performance reallocation
An agent watches ROAS per channel hourly. When one channel is outperforming, it reallocates budget within preset guard rails — and notifies the marketing lead with the reasoning.
7. Support deflection
An agent reads every incoming ticket, checks the customer's order history, inventory status and account flags, and either resolves the ticket end-to-end or routes it with a draft response.
8. Cash forecasting refresh
An agent rebuilds the 13-week rolling cash forecast every night from open AR, open AP, recurring obligations and current pipeline conversion patterns. The CFO sees the new number with their morning coffee, not a spreadsheet that is three Fridays old.
9. New employee onboarding
An agent runs the checklist — IT access, document collection, payroll setup, manager intro — without HR chasing each step. The new joiner gets a single conversation interface that knows exactly what is pending.
How to actually start
Do not deploy nine agents at once. Pick the one workflow where the impact is biggest and the risk is smallest — usually #1 or #3 on this list. Run it for two weeks. Measure. Then add the next.
The companies winning with AI in 2026 are not the ones with the most agents. They are the ones whose agents do small things reliably, every day, while leadership focuses on growth.
